The wizarding world returns to the screens, this time in a completely new version – as a series. The main roles in the long -awaited HBO Max production were young actors: Dominic McLaughlin (Harry), Alastair Stout (Ron) and Arabella Stanton (Hermione). Although the casting caused hot discussions among fans, JK Rowling, the author of the iconic series, does not hide enthusiasm.
The writer, known for his social media activity, referred to the cast elections on Platform X. In response to one of the users, Rowling admitted: “All three are great. I am happy.” This statement can calm some fans fearing too much to leave the book of the original.
Speculation about the author’s influence on casting decisions also appeared on the network, especially in the context of the controversial choice of Paapa Essied for the role of Severus Snape. The actor is one of the signatories of the petitions regarding the protection of transgender people in the British film industry – which, in the face of known views of Rowling, aroused considerable stir.
The author referred directly to these reports: “She is not in my power to slow down the actor from the series. And even if it were, I would not do it. I do not believe in taking away work from work and earnings, because they have legally protected views that differ from mine.” Her firm statement seems to cut circulating theories about the backstage of work on the series.
Production, which is announced as a faithful adaptation of books, is created under the watchful eye of the scriptwriter Franceski Gardiner and director Marek Mylod. On the screen, next to young stars, we will also see names such as John Lithbledore (Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (McGonagall), Nick Frost (Hagrid) and Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse. The premiere is planned for the coming years, and the expectations of the new version of “Harry Potter” reach heaven – or maybe rather Hogwarts.
