The successor of the longplay “Wallflowers” (2021) was created again under the supervision of a recognized specialist Max Mortonwho, together with the band, took care of production (including mixing and mastering). The information so far shows that compared to its predecessor, which featured noticeably more clean vocals, “Duel” it is supposed to be much more aggressive in sound.
Jinjer and “Duél”: A duel that breaks down genre barriers
“First of all, it’s hard to believe that we’ll be releasing our fifth major album soon! After all the material we’ve created, finally having ‘Duél’ in our hands and being ready to share it with the world makes us burst with pride in the fact that our band hasn’t has lost creativity and inspiration. The fact that we constantly challenge ourselves to include the best music on each new material is why Jinjer it’s still moving forward,” he says Eugene Abdukhanovbassist Jinjer.
“It has never taken us so long to compose material for an album; the work on it took almost two years. We devoted every free minute outside the tour to hard work, recording subsequent demos and constantly searching for the perfect sound of guitars, bass and drums. Moreover, Tatiana participated for the first time in the pre-production of vocal parts, so it can be safely said that none of our albums has been as well thought out and developed as this new one. This album destroys the genre barriers of contemporary progressive metal, while remaining refined, exciting and extreme material. We took up the challenge of expanding our music even more musical horizons, so that ‘Duél’ becomes not only the next step in the musical development of Jinjer, but also – hopefully – in the evolution of metal music in general,” added the Ukrainian musician.
Jinjer and “Kafka”. The life of an artist as in Franz Kafka’s “The Trial”.
The new release by the band from Horlivka in the eastern part of Ukraine in the Donetsk Oblast (currently under the control of the pro-Russian Donetsk People’s Republic) includes two previously published singles “Someone’s Daughter” and “Rogue”which has just been joined by the third premiere song – “Kafka”.
“Being an artist can be beautiful, but most often it is brutal, as our art is analyzed word by word and criticized note by note. We are expected to always be flawless, and when we are not, we cause scandal. A true artist is defenseless, but there are plenty of hyenas in the crowd who nitpick at your every move. It’s a slippery slope where music means everything to us, but praise can quickly turn into accusations. We’re all kings and queens for a day, but most of the time it looks like that like a Kafka novel that lasts a lifetime. It is as exciting as it is surreal and absurd,” she wrote about the message from the single “Kafka”. Tatiana Shmaylukcharismatic singer Jinjer.
