Jerzy Bończak He has been emphasizing for years that although he had his antics in his life, he remained faithful to one woman in love. They are together with Ewa almost 50 years, and their story began unexpectedly.
It was 1972, when a young employee of the television editorial office, Ewa, went to the premiere of the show “Hultaj”. The evening ended in the famous SPATIF, where she met Jerzy Bończak, one of the actors playing in art. The meeting had its continuation – the actor asked her for a phone number. The problem is that … he never called.
After a few months, their roads crossed again, this time in the corridor on TVP. Jerzy did not make the same mistake anymore – this time he made sure he knew where he could find Ewa.
The first date turned out to be a breakthrough. While walking in Królikarnia, Bończak told Ewa without hesitation that he wanted to marry her. Although the feeling was strong, the wedding had to wait.
Only when it turned out that the couple was expecting a child, they decided to formalize the relationship. They got married in 1976, just before the birth of son Piotr. A few years later their daughter Ania appeared in the world.
Ewa, although she worked on television earlier, decided to sacrifice to her family. It was she who watched over the house, while Jerzy developed his acting career.
For years, Bończak told an anecdote that could serve as a film script. He claimed that as soon as he founded the wedding ring, he suddenly stopped getting professional suggestions.
“When I founded it, work suggestions ended for me. Nobody called. I took off the wedding ring and the next day the offers spilled” – he recalled in an interview.
He asked his wife to let him put the ring in the drawer. It is still there, although Bończak has never had any doubts about the durability of his relationship.
The actor’s life was filled with intense roles, premieres and banquets. He relieved stress, looking into the glass, which began to bounce on his family.
Ewa was fed up at some point. She was thinking about leaving because she was afraid that if she stayed, she would waste her life. Bończak understood that he had to fight for his family. He stopped drinking, ordered his life and proved to his wife that he was worth a second chance.
When Bończak did not work, he most often disappeared in Masuria. Fishing was his great passion, and spent every free moment at the lake.
Ewa, initially annoyed by his constant trips, decided to find a compromise. The couple bought a house in Naterki, which they renovated themselves. Today it is their asylum – a place where they rest and enjoy.
Masuria is not only memories full of joy. It was there in 2011 that the actor brushed his death.
He was 61 years old when his heart suddenly stopped. Only thanks to the rapid reaction of Ewa, who immediately called an ambulance, was managed to save him. Operation in the open heart was serious, but it was successful.
After all, Bończak promised his wife that he would start taking care of himself. Did he keep his word? As he admits – not quite. He still loves life, work and new challenges, although he now appreciates his family more than ever.
After years of intensive work, Bończak decided to slow down. Although he still occurs, he wants to spend more time with his family.
Today, the actor enjoys grandchildren, which four have already had. As he says, there is no greater joy than looking at how the next generation grows up.
And his marriage? Still full of love. When he woke up after surgery 14 years ago, he heard from Ewa that he was the best gift she got from fate. For half a century they went through a lot together, but they still give them on the same waves – and they do not intend to change it.
