What he really is Jan Englert? Will we learn anything new about the outstanding Polish actor? On December 1, Warsaw’s Kultura Cinema will host the premiere screening of Maciej Dancewicz’s documentary, “Jan Englert. I’ll try to fly again”.
Jan Englert in the years 2003-2025, artistic director of the National Theater in Warsaw, an actor who has played over one hundred and fifty theater roles, over one hundred films and over two hundred television roles, as well as a director who has produced over thirty theater performances and thirty-five Television Theater performances, not only tells viewers about his understanding of the profession, but also allows them into his privacy.
As the authors of the documentary write, “we follow the meanders of his theater and film career, we look at his teaching activities and family life. And although Jan Englert presents himself with characteristic distance and delicate self-irony, deep emotions often come to the fore in his statements.”
The film features: Beata Ścibakównathe artist’s wife, daughter Helena Englertas well as several people from his environment with whom he worked closely over the years. They include, among others: Anna Dymna, Maja Komorowska, Małgorzata Kożuchowska, Danuta Stenka, Joanna Szczepkowska, Ewa Wiśniewska, Piotr Adamczyk, Juliusz Machulski and Jan Frycz.
