Polish television without Ilona Łepkowska would never be what it is today, and many great actors might never have entered the viewers’ consciousness. BNP Paribas SerialCon is the perfect opportunity to ask the TV series icon what she thinks about the development of the industry and what productions have impressed her in recent months.
Polish television owes a lot Ilona Łepkowska and although she doesn’t like this term herself, she is often referred to as the “queen of Polish series”. This is not accidental, because many cult productions were created based on her ideas and scripts, without which we cannot imagine our evenings in front of the TV. Thanks to her, we learned the stories of the people of Mostowiacy “M is for love”, We experienced the ups and downs of Pyrki in “Colors of Happiness”and we also kept our fingers crossed for doctors from Leśna Góra “For better and for worse.”
She also created several iconic scripts – “Never in my life!”, “Don’t lie, darling” and “Kogel-mogel”.

How does Ilona Łepkowska perceive the changing TV series scene in Poland? It turns out that he appreciates what is currently happening with episodic productions. Not only has a space for creators been created, but viewers also benefit from it, as they can choose from an abundance of new titles and offers from streaming platforms.
During the Opening Gala, in a conversation with the Interia editorial team, she said:
“I am very happy that this production is so diverse and there is a lot of it. I am happy primarily because of the viewers who have something to choose from. The competition is not easy, because each of us has access to some streaming platform at home, and maybe a few of us therefore have access to the global catalog. Polish series have to compete with this and, in my opinion, they are competing more and more.”
The creator of the scripts emphasized that the times of soap operas are slowly passing away, because viewers are looking for completely different experiences. Although we will probably never say goodbye to this type of production for good.
What series delighted Ilona Łepkowska last year? The mentioned productions included “A Minute of Silence”, “A Decent Man”, “Klara” and the famous “Heweliusz”.
