How to pay with a Huawei watch in Poland? I checked and it works

Finally, after a long wait, paying with a Huawei watch in Poland has become possible. With the premiere of the series, native users can use NFC from the wrist. This does not mean, however, that Huawei Pay has reached us – the Chinese manufacturer has found another way to make mobile payments.

And this is done using a native application – because to pay with a Huawei watch you need an app. This is the Polish answer to Revolut, which gives us access to, for example, virtual payment cards powered by transfer. As befits a financial institution, to open an account, we must verify our identity with an ID card. After that, it’s all downhill from there, and we can make transfers, contactless payments and online purchases using a virtual card.

This is the solution that Huawei uses in its latest watches. Although this is not a native solution, the company has taken care of the software side – with one click we can set Quicko as the default application for paying with the watch, thanks to which it works just like the manufacturer’s default method.

Unfortunately, the entire procedure for initiating payments with a Huawei watch is not as intuitive and simple as in the case of competing solutions – e.g. Apple or Samsung. All because of the obstacles that must be overcome on the way to activating payment via NFC on the watch. First we have to . To activate it, you will need to set your watch’s unlock PIN. Fortunately, you can only enter this once and leave the device “unlocked” until you take it out of your hand.

After creating an account and pairing it with the watch, we have access to payments. Unfortunately, we do not pay with our bank card, but with the Quicko application card – which we must first top up with the amount we choose. This means that the watch basically gives us access to a prepaid card. It is possible that during one of our visits to the store we will simply run out of funds because we will forget to top it up.

The need to top up the virtual wallet is not the only problem with paying with a Huawei watch in Poland. The second problem arises from . The Quicko application requires a connection to your phone to work, which means you won’t leave your smartphone at home when going shopping. And since we have it with us anyway, you might as well pay with it and with a bank card, not the one in the application.

On the other hand, it’s good that at least this method of payment is available. , which I use every day. I admit that I don’t see any real benefits from this solution. If I forget my phone, I won’t pay with my watch anyway. When I want to use a credit card instead of a regular one, I still need a phone or wallet. What if I forget to top up Quciko?
