Kevin Costner is the director, co-writer, producer, and actor of one of the main roles in “Horizon: An American Saga”. The production is a grand, epic story about the settlement of Western America.
“It is both a beautiful and difficult story. To be honest, it will concern many women. There will be room for men in it, but women will be the real strength of ‘Horizon’. We will tell about their everyday life in an extremely hard world. They were often dragged there by force, because it was their men who wanted to go there. And women followed men back then. They didn’t ask to be in these uninhabited and dangerous areas. And life there was not easy. I want it to be obvious. I also want to show how “People at that time were very defenseless,” Costner said in an interview with Variety.
In turn, in an interview with “Deadline”, the star admitted that to finance such an expensive venture, he had to mortgage his seaside estate in Santa Barbara.
“I did it without hesitation. My accountant was furious, but it’s my life. I believe in this idea and this story,” he revealed. And he emphasized that he had dreamed of making this picture for over three decades.
The filmmakers decided to divide the film into four parts. “Horizon: An American Saga” will hit American theaters on June 28, 2024. Viewers will have to wait less than two months for the sequel. Its premiere is scheduled for August 16. The premiere dates of the next parts are not known yet.
The stars of the production are Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington. Apart from them and Costner, who played Hayes Ellison, the cast also included: Danny HoustonJamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson, Thomas Haden Church, Michael Rooker, Isabelle FuhrmanJena Malone and Will Patton.
The official announcement of the production has just appeared. “Trailers have always been my favorite part, even when I went to the cinema as a boy. You’re obviously there to see the part of the movie you want, but isn’t it nice to see what’s waiting for you? With that in mind, I made “I will do my best to present what this four-part saga will be about,” said Kevin Costner, who has so far directed the cult “Dances with Wolves” as well as the less successful films: “Future Messenger” and “Lawless.”
“I’m shocked that we managed to make this film. I shot ‘Dances with Wolves’ for 106 days. I shot this one in 52 days. I learned a lot, so I was able to use every directorial trick to present my film to the audience. And all in all there will be four of them,” the star concluded.
