The original “Heat” was about the rivalry between professional thief Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and the detective who is tracking him down, Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino). “Fever 2” was published in the form of a novel in August 2022. Michael Mann he wrote it with Meg Gardiner. The book was both a prequel and sequel to the 1995 film.
In an interview on Radio France, director Michael Mann revealed that he will soon be behind the camera of the anticipated “Fever 2”. According to the information he provided, work on the plan should begin in the summer of 2024.
However, the director did not want to reveal who would play the roles known from the original film. According to unofficial information, Adam Driver will play the role of young McCauley, and Austin Butler, known from “Dune 2” and “Elvis”, will play Chris Shiherlis.
It is worth recalling that Driver recently collaborated with Mann on the film “Ferrari”. When asked about the actor's possible participation in the second “Fever” in October last year, the director said: “Maybe. We haven't talked about it yet. Let me put it this way: I got along great with Adam. We have a similar work ethic — that is, very intense. We like each other and we had a great time working in an artistic context.”
