A new era is coming for Harry Potter fans. Over a decade after the premiere of the last part of the original series of films, Warner Bros. Discovery decided to realize a remake of history about a magically gifted boy. The series, which is to debut on Max in 2026, is in the pre -production phase. They last, among others Intensive castings aimed at selecting actors who portray the loved heroes best.
On May 27, HBO presented three chosen ones who, in the new adaptation, will play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. “After an extraordinary search for the cast director Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are pleased to announce that we found our Harry’ego, Hermione and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is great to watch and we can’t wait for the world to see their common magic on the screen, “wrote Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod in a common statement.
Candidates for roles were selected from over 32 thousand. young actors aged 9-11. To participate in the casting, they had to record two films: in one of them they recited a short story or poem, and in the other they talked about themselves, a family member, friend or animal with whom they were closely connected.
The main character is portrayed by Dominic McLaughlin, who previously worked in “Grow”. His faithful friend will be played by Alastair Stout – previously appearing in advertisements, and in the role of Bystra Hermione we will see Arabella Stanton this time, which has definitely the most acting experience of all three: already at the age of 9 she managed to gain engagement in the musical “Matilda” presented on the Cambridge Theater in London in the years 2023-2024.
“I started interrogations to the musical ‘Matilda’ A week after my 9th birthday and I feel incredibly happy and honored that I could, at the age of 9, play Matilda Wormwood at the Cambridge Theater in London for the Royal Shakespeare Company (and also at the Buckingham Palace during a unique performance under the BBC 500 Words Final) ” – she wrote in one of the posts.
Arabella Stanton is an 11-year-old rising actress from Great Britain. In addition to portraiting Matilda, she also appeared in the play of Andrew Lloyd Webber “Starlight Express” at Wembley Park Theater as a narrator of Control. The young star has already managed to comment on her new casting success.
“Hurry! We were admitted to the school of magic and wizarding at Hogwarts!” – she wrote on Instagram under a photo with new colleagues from the set.
Arabella’s choice did not like some fans of the original adaptation. According to them, the 11-year-old differs too much from Emma Watson, who had previously played the character of the sorceress. Negative comments spilled under the entries with the cast, so Max decided to limit the possibility of commenting on the post on his Facebook and Instagram. Given the young age of the actors, everything in the hands of parents and creators of the series to best protect them from hate. After all, the new production is to be implemented for the next 10 years – Arabella, Dominic and Alastair will grow in front of viewers and will probably be on languages many times.
Fans have long awaited information whether someone from the old cast would return to the screens. Unfortunately, no one from the original series of movies will appear in the new adaptation. Matthew Lewis, who was the performer of the role of Neville Longbottom, even joked that he was too old to play the former character again. In addition to three young actors, the new cast will include: John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essied, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse.
