“Handmaid tale”: Elisabeth Moss almost rejected the cult role. Why?

The star of “Handbook”, Elisabeth Moss, confessed in The Jennifer Hudson Show in the program that she almost gave up the role of June Osborne. Initially, she had doubts whether after eight seasons “Mad Men” should be involved in another, most likely many years of project. One thing influenced her positive decision.

“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get such a project again, so at the beginning I rejected this role. I know, now it seems crazy. I am glad that I repaired it – I was offered this role a second time. What convinced me … I am sure that it was done intentionally – I was told to whom they will offer this role instead of me, and I say: ‘for nothing in the world’ – says Moss.

“I realized that I had to do it. I could not accept that someone else could play this role” – he adds. “I realized how much I want to be in this series.”

The “handy tale” presents life in dystopian Gilead – a world where democracy has collapsed, and women were taken away from freedom, dignity and decision -making. The first season of the adaptation of Margaret Atwood enrolled in the history of television with gold applications – in 2017 he won eight Emma awards – including for the best dramatic series. Elisabeth Moss was awarded as a leading female role and invariably, from season to season she proved that she was a pillar of this production.

“In the final season of the series” Handmaid Tale “, the steadfast spirit and determination of June make him again involved in the fight (…) The final chapter of the June journey emphasizes the importance of hope, courage and solidarity, as well as perseverance in the pursuit of justice and freedom” – reads in the press.

On May 27, the final episode of the series will be broadcast.
