“Guardian Angel”: Keanu Reeves in out-of-this-world trouble

Imagine that someone changed your life. Every day you live in a luxurious villa, but one day you wake up in a car that turns out to be your home. Or in other words – you are poor and dream of a better life, but you have lost hope for any change in your fate. And then an angel appears and from now on you have a house with a swimming pool and millions in your account.

However, this angel is not very high in the structure, but has great ambitions. He really wants to change the world, but when he wants to do good, he makes… quite a mess. As a result, he loses his wings and is thrown into the vortex of earthly life, with only one chance to return: he must convince the heroes to want to return to their former lives. And that’s not easy.

This is the story told in a hilarious comedy “Guardian angel”which hits theaters on October 31. This is a perfect counter-proposal for horror films, which will be abundant in cinema repertoires on Halloween. Not convincing enough?

Because it is a satire on the gigaeconomy, inequality and the pursuit of money. A topic that resonates extremely strongly in today’s world of total consumerism, but it does it in a hilarious way – you will laugh until you cry.

Because Keanu Reeves, known mainly for dramatic or action roles, shows his comedic side here, in which he is “diabolically angelic”. It’s a gem in itself.

Because “Guardian Angel” is not only about Keanu. The director-writer, Aziz Ansari (who also plays one of the main roles) invited an excellent cast, including: Seth Rogen (who won this year’s Emmy for the series “The Studio”), Sandra Oh (the series’ Doctor Yang from “Grey’s Anatomy”) and Keka Palmer (the unforgettable Akeelah from the movie “Akeelah and Her Teacher”).

Because “Guardian Angel” receives hundreds of positive reviews on film websites around the world.

Because Aziz Ansari, the writer and director of the film, is a respected comedian and stand-up comedian, so the jokes are surprising, accurate and really funny.

For years, Arj has had the feeling that real life is somewhere else. He envies wealthy people like Jeff who don’t have to take low-paying jobs to make ends meet. Jeff lives in his villa on a hill and looks at the world from above, but he cannot appreciate what fate has given him. Neither of them knows that the aspiring angel Gabriel has bold plans for them. In a burst of ambition and good intentions, he decides, without permission from “above”, to arrange for them to change places unexpectedly. As a result of his supernatural intervention, Arj now basks in luxury, and Jeff is chasing a penny. But the angel Gabriel also gets into real trouble. The heavenly leadership punishes him for his willfulness by taking away his wings and the life of a mortal. He will be able to return to his job as an angel if he convinces Arj and Jeff to voluntarily return to their former roles. Jeff agrees immediately, but Arj has no intention of giving up his new, wonderful life.
