Loyal viewers have been waiting for this return for 17 years. Maciej Stuhr, Jacek Braciak, Jerzy Radziwiłowicz and the mother-daughter duo, Agnieszka Pilaszewska and Nela Maciejewska. Meanwhile, in Poland, “Cop. New Chapter” (considered to be the third season), in which investigators from the Homicide Department of the Warsaw Police Headquarters – Banaś (Maciej Stuhr), Jóźwiak (Jacek Braciak) and Superintendent Gajewski (Jerzy Radziwiłowicz) – return after many years – will provide a good criminal story for both new and old viewers. It may not be as groundbreaking as the original “Glina”, but it is a pleasure to watch.
On the screen we will again see Agnieszka Pilaszewska as Olga, a pathologist who, just like 17 years ago, helps our heroes solve criminal puzzles. Without giving away any details, he has some of the best lines in the series.
Before the premiere of the latest installment, we had the opportunity to talk to Agnieszka Pilaszewska about the series and screenwriting. The author of the script for the new “Glina” is Maciej Maciejewski, the actress’s husband.
Katarzyna Ulman, Interia: Mrs. Agnieszka, after 17 years the cult “Glina” returns in a new version. How do you remember working on the set of the first two parts? According to some critics, it is one of the most important and best Polish crime series. A series that was a breakthrough in this genre.
Agnieszka Pilaszewska: That’s very nice to hear. I think that “Glina” was one of the pioneering series when it comes to the genre of crime series in Poland. I remember him wonderfully. I love this crew, the director, these stories, and my character, pathologist Olga Seifert.
This is one of the most intriguing characters for me. He has really great verbal fights with other characters, in the new season “a healthy man, but still dead” will go down in history. What’s new for her?
– She’s lucky that every case is actually something new, right? If someone lands on her table, it’s a complete novelty and another mystery to solve – how this person died, but also how this person lived, so there are still twists and turns that I am very satisfied with in this story. When it comes to her private life, we don’t have much information about her and I also really like this mystery. This character is unsaid, he is still a mystery.

What can viewers expect from the new episodes?
– (…) I think this is a proposal that many viewers will be satisfied with – it is intelligently told, brilliantly visually produced and great actors take part in this project. Names of the directors – Władysław Pasikowski, who directed the previous two series, and Dariusz Jabłoński, who has now joined as a director and produced the previous two seasons. These are great personalities. It’s beautiful that so many people have waited seventeen years. A long time. More than one era in this development of television production, three or even four. I’m grateful for that.
You once mentioned in one of your interviews that you always dreamed of meeting your daughter on the set. Now it seems to have come true.
– Be careful what you ask for (laughter). Here it was such a gentle meeting because Nela and I didn’t have too many scenes; We probably only met on set three times, if not twice. I am very glad that we were both included in this project, which, of course, meant passing through a screen of test photos and acceptance. These are not such simple mechanisms.
You are the author of scripts for such productions as “It Must Be Love”, “Recipe for Life”, “Sama Sweetness”, “Ultraviolet”. How does a married screenwriter couple work? Do you and Mr. Maciej Maciejewski read each other’s scripts? Can you cope?
– When I started, I actually needed the opinion of Maciej, who was already a very experienced screenwriter, whom I admired, because he knows how to write literary forms, so he is also a very strict critic not only for himself, but for me. I really cared about his opinion, but then he said he could let me go. He didn’t ask me if I wanted to read something he was working on, for example. We have separate offices, desks, computers and each of us works there. However, it is nice when there is a problem, mainly I am a problematic screenwriter, sometimes I like to come up with a character with whom I don’t really know what to do with… Then I go to him for help and he usually gives me this help, although also very sparingly and quite harshly.
Did you ask about the new “Cop”?
– I knew what the story would be and what the new “Cop. New Chapter” would be about, but I absolutely didn’t ask any questions because I like surprises.
