Jolanta Danuta Fraszyńska, or rather Jolanta Danuta Przygoda, was born on December 14, 1968 in Mysłowice. Her childhood was spent in her hometown, where she grew up under the care of her mother Krystyna. She was accompanied by her older half-sister Katarzyna. The actress had the opportunity to meet her biological father only in high school. From his new relationship, she also has two half-siblings – sister Magda and brother Przemysław.
“My sister and I grew up without fathers… (…) I have long since dealt with the past and learned to use my experiences. Today I draw power from myself, because… I have come to love myself,” she confessed.
She showed artistic talent from a young age, taking part in vocal and dance classes at the local community center. As a teenager, she also got involved in scouts, sang in the church choir and was active in oasis. After graduating from high school, which she passed at the Preschool Education School, she decided to pursue acting and began studies at the State Higher School of Theater in Wrocław.
Fraszyńska quickly began to build her position in the world of theater and film. After completing her studies, she joined the Polish Theater in Wrocław, where made her debut in the play “Children of the Arbat”. At the same time, she appeared on screen as Ania in the film “In flagranti” directed by Wojciech Biedroń. In 1992, she took part in the play “Pułapka” by Tadeusz Różewicz, and a year later she played in the films “Białe ślub” by Magdalena Łazarkiewicz and “Pora na czarodzieje” by Piotr Łazarkiewicz.
In 1998, the actress decided to change her place of work and moved to the Dramatic Theatre in Warsaw. There, she created her roles with the best directors, such as Krystian Lupa and Grzegorz Jarzyna, and played in “Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love” and “Hamlet” directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski. At the same time, she continued her career on the screen, appearing in films and series. She gained immense popularity for her role as Aldona Lipska in the comedy “Kiler-ów 2-óch” and the character of the hacker “Ćma” in the series “Ekstradycja”. During her career, she appeared in over 40 theatre plays, numerous productions of the Television Theatre and films. In 2006 she was nominated for the Eagle Award for best female role in the film “Skazany na bluesa”.
However, her real fame came from her role as Monika Zybert in the series “Na dobre i na złe”, where she played for 10 years. The character of Monika, an anaesthesiologist with a strong character and a complicated private life, quickly won the sympathy of viewers and became one of the most recognizable characters on Polish television. The series, which tells the story of doctors at the hospital in Leśna Góra, became a hit, and Fraszyńska herself gained the status of a TV star thanks to this role. For a decade, her character was an inseparable element of the plot, and viewers loved Monika for her determination.
It turns out that the actress is very she would love to come back to the series, to play Monika Zybert again. As she noted in an interview, her character’s storyline was not completed.
“I have an endless romance with this series. It’s a love that, although cut off, has no end. My heroine suddenly stopped appearing. So if Marian Opania is coming back… It’s a really cool lead, although I don’t know what the producer thinks about it ‘Foresters’ lodges'” – said Fraszyńska in an interview for TeleTygodnia in 2018.
A person from the production has deprived both the actress and the fans of hope, telling Super Express: “We do not plan to return to this plot. New characters appear in the series all the time, and their fates are of interest to the viewers.”
Jolanta Fraszyńska in everyday life is the mother of two daughters: Nastazja and Aniela. The children are the fruit of the actress’s two different marriages. Her first husband was Robert Gonera. She later married cameraman Grzegorz Kuczeriszka, but their marriage ended in divorce in 2010. She is currently dating Tomasz Zieliński, a personal development trainer.
“No Cupid’s arrow hit us right away. I knew I wanted to develop spiritually and I was always drawn to psychology. After some time Tomek and I decided to create a relationship” – admitted Jolanta.
Fraszyńska opening she talked about her struggles with anxiety disorders, and even became an ambassador for the Forum’s social campaign against depression.
“The experience of panic fear. When your heart is pounding, your head is spinning, you think you’re losing consciousness (…) People with anxiety know exactly what I’m talking about. I understood then that I had to take care of myself urgently,” the actress confessed in “The Lady”.
In May 2024, Jolanta announced that she had officially changed her surname to Przygoda, which was a symbolic step into a new phase of her life. She is still professionally active, currently plays one of the main roles in the Polsat series “Teściowie”. On her Instagram, where she is followed by over 33 thousand users, she willingly shares her experiences from her private life and work.
