Florence and the Machine is back. “I thought I made a mistake”
Shortly after the announcement of the album’s release, the leader of the band Florence and the Machine appeared on the broadcast Zane Lowe Apple Music Radio, where she admitted that the release of her sixth album was associated with enormous stress. And although today the album receives excellent reviews, she had a number of doubts whether she should release it.
“A week before the announcement, I thought I was making a mistake, I was terrified, I wondered what I was doing, why am I doing it again?” – revealed the singer. This album intensified the doubts because, as Welch explained, it is one of the most personal. “There’s always something inside me that wants to hide. I think I’m not ready yet, I want to put it off. This time I challenged myself that I won’t delay the release of the album,” she explained.
Although there are moments when Florence prefers to remain in the shadows rather than stand in the spotlight, it is always tempting to express her emotions on stage. And it is this need that motivates her to create music and perform every time.
“The stage gives me something that I can’t get anywhere else. There is a part of me that wants to hide and not be seen, but there is something in me that needs to come out. Throughout my life, the stage has been the only place that has managed to contain my feelings and emotions,” she added.
