Paul Mescal seems to be on a wave of success that cannot be stopped. After the premiere “Gladiator II“, where he played the role of Luciusthe actor is preparing for his next big project. This time we are talking about a series of biographical films by Sam Mendes about The Beatles. Rumors about his role in this project have been circulating for months, but everything indicates that the secret has finally been revealed by Ridley Scott.
During a meeting with Christopher Nolan in Los Angeles, Ridley Scottdirector of such hits as “Blade Runner” and “Gladiator”, revealed that Paul Mescal is already involved in a film project about the legendary Beatles.
“Paul is already set to do ‘The Beatles'” – Scott said when asked about further plans to cooperate with the actor.
The director’s statement caused a storm in the media. Although Sony Pictures and Sam Mendes, responsible for the production, are still silent, Scott’s words seem to confirm previous speculations about Mescal’s involvement.
Speculations about Paul Mescal’s role in the Beatles series appeared already this summer. Mendes, an Oscar winner for “American Beauty,” is planning a four-part series in which each film will tell the story of one of the band members. Mescal would play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson would play John Lennon, Barry Keoghan would play Ringo Starr and Charlie Rowe would play George Harrison.
During an interview for “Entertainment Tonight”, Mescal, when asked about his participation in the project, neither confirmed nor denied. He only stated that working with Mendes would be a dream come true. However, following Scott’s comments, it seems almost certain that the actor will star in the highly anticipated series.
The planned series about the Beatles is the first feature production that has obtained full rights to use the music and life stories of the band members from Apple Corps Ltd. Mendes announced that each of the films will present the fate of the band from the perspective of a different musician, combining personal stories into one coherent narrative.
“It’s a great honor for me to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time,” Mendes said in an interview.
However, fans of The Beatles must be patient. The premiere of the first film is scheduled for 2027. Meanwhile, Mescal, known for his roles in “Normal People” and “Good Strangers”, has several other projects lined up, including “The History of Sound” and “The Dog Stars“.
