Farida, an Italian singer, has died. Years ago, she had an affair with Czesław Niemen

She died on September 30, 2024 in Taormina, Sicily Concetta Gangiknown to the wider public as Farida. The death of the Italian singer was reported by quotidiano.net. The artist celebrated her 78th birthday a few days ago.

Farida became famous both in Italy and in Poland. All because of her lavish affair with Czesław Niemen

Farida enjoyed great fame in her homeland, especially in the 1970s. She also gained recognition in Poland, but not due to her hits. Initially, Poles heard about her when the artist’s affair with the legendary artist came to light Czesław Niemen. The couple met at a summer song competition in Italy and fell in love with each other during their first conversation. Their love was fierce and defied all rules of logic. They both had established families, but they still could not break off contact with each other.

She was Czesław Niemen’s great love. Their relationship defied all the rules

Czesław Niemen met Farida at a song competition in Italy and fell in love at first sight. He couldn’t accept the thought that he would never see her again, so he did everything to bring her to Poland. The singer received an invitation to festival in Sopotwhich she used. She decided to continue the affair with the Polish star, even though her husband was waiting for her at home.

The feelings that connected Czesław Niemen and Farida were deep. The singer repeatedly emphasized that she didn’t fully understand why she was so crazy about him. “There is such a thing as spiritual presence in life. It does not require physical presence. And this is what happens between me and Czesław,” she explained.

However, the relationship between the Italian and the Pole did not stand the test of time. Farida’s father fell ill, and she made a promise that when he recovered, she would leave her lover and return to her homeland. And so it happened. The artist was forced to leave, leaving Niemen in despair. She continued her life and career in Italy, being an exemplary wife and mother and performing on local stages.

Who was Farida? She made her debut in the 1960s.

Farida was born on September 26, 1946 in Catania at the foot of Mount Etna. Her father was Italian and her mother was Egyptian. The artist’s stage debut took place in the 1960s – then she performed during the Festival of the Unknowns in Ariccia, still under the pseudonym Ketty Gangi.

In the late 1960s, the artist released her first song titled “Superman”. Soon after, she adopted the pseudonym Farida, which she used for the rest of her career. She began touring with her own repertoire, as well as singing songs Mikis Theodorakis, Charles Aznavour and Luigi Tenco.

During her long career, Farida has collaborated with outstanding Italian artists such as Battiato Whether Renata Zero. In recent years, she took part in a television show “The Voice Senior”where she sat in the coaching chair.
