“Exceptional state”: incredible, which the journalist went to. All because of the betrayal of a loved one

“State of emergency” This is the latest production of a well -known Czech creator Jan Hřebejkacreators of such classics of the genre as “Headlong” (2004), “Beauty in trouble” (2006) or “Czech error” (2010).

This time, the director talks about what misinformation or fake news are nowadays. The film is also a sharp satire on the media, which when manipulating the message often deliberately mislead society.

The hero of the film is Karel Beran (Ondřej Vetchý) – an experienced radio officer who works as a foreign correspondent in a fictitious Arab state called Kamurbur, where elections are to be held determining the future of the country. Although the situation on the spot is getting more and more tense, a man, when rumors about his partner’s infidelity reach him, he returns to Prague.

At this time, a revolution breaks out in Cambura, and the confused hero decides to fraud, pretending that he was still in place. Torn between personal problems and journalistic ethics, Karel prepares a fictitious report from the scene. Simulates the sounds of a riots of the Arab revolution using kitchen appliances in his apartment in Vinohrad.

What’s more, he regularly presents the latest information from the Middle East country on Radio. The question arises – is the fact that all this is made up of any meaning when the audience increases at a dizzying pace?

“State of emergency” He will debut on the screens of Polish cinemas on July 25.
