One of the largest productions in the history of Polish cinema will debut in cinemas on October 10, 2025. The director and image producer is Michał Kwieciński. The operator is responsible for photos Michał Sobocińskiand the title hero plays Eryk KulmEagle Conqueror and Awards Zbyszek Cybulski for an excellent creation in the film “Filip”.
Production tells about the Polish piano genius who lives with a death sentence: tuberculosis. Incorrectly, the patient tries to fully use the time that he remained and live, literally to lose his breath. History focuses on selected moments from the biography of Fryderyk Chopin, intimate and little -known events discovered in literature and private letters.
“I produced countless historical films, including ‘Katyn’ or ‘City 44’. I thought that you would have to look for something interesting in our history, but not related to World War II. I talked to Eryk long before the premiere of ‘Filip’ and he said: ‘You know what, I would like to play Chopin (… Michał Kwieciński told in an interview with Interia.
And what about the role in the film “Chopin, Chopin!” Eryk Kulm says? The 35-year-old actor was intensively preparing for the role of Chopin. He went to France for three and a half months, where he practiced playing the piano six hours a day.
“Chopin’s music has always affected my emotions. So it seemed to me that it would be something great to be able to play a man who moves me so much. (…) Michał (Kwieciński – ed.) From the beginning he wanted me to perform all the songs myself. I had some musical preparation, because in primary and junior high school I went to class with a musical profile. But for the needs of the film I had to learn to play better than ever. France and there in the mountains in the mountains, for three and a half months I practiced on the piano.
“We certainly looked for as many features of a normal man in Chopin, just sensitive. He played since childhood, grew up at the piano and, creating music, expressed himself. Michał was interested in what was happening in the middle of Chopin. Hence the close plans. It was about man, every grimace, breath. The film soon enters the cinema screens. What feelings accompany the performers of the title role in this connection?
“The work has already been done and now people will evaluate it. Of course, I would like this film to move, move. But I have no influence on it anymore. Working on Chopin’s role was certainly a unique experience for me, the most difficult, the most difficult, most labor -intensive of all my projects” – confesses Eryk Kulm.
