“Project Hail Mary” is based on the book by Andy Weir under the same title. He talks about an astronaut who wakes up in a deserted spaceship without knowing his identity. In time, he discovers what his mission was.
Ryan Gosling played the lead role. He is accompanied by Sandra Hüller and Milan Vayntrub. The script was written by Drew Goddard. They stood behind the camera Phil Lord and Christopher Millercreators of the series “21 Jump Street”the originators of the “Lego: Adventure” animation and “Spider-Man: Universe”. The film will be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios. The photos ended in October 2024.
The first few minutes “Project Hail Mary” was shown in April 2025 during Cinemacon in Las Vegas. The audience was very impressed at the time. Later, the first test shows took place. According to the blog “World of Reel”, they also met with an enthusiastic reception. The viewers compared the film to Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” and Denis Villeneuve’s “New Beginning”. Gosling also received praise, which was to give one of the most committed performances in his career.
What’s more, viewers were very impressed with the technical side. Although this premieres are over nine months, the film seems to be almost three hours in the last phase of post -production. Special effects looked almost finished.
The question arose whether if the next shows meet with similar reactions, the Amazon MGM label will not decide to accelerate the premiere of “Project Hail Mary” and introduce it to the cinemas during the Christmas period. Thus, the film could take part in the Oscar race in 2026.
