Edyta Geppert For decades, he has been considered one of the most privacy-loving figures on the Polish stage. He does not actively run social media profiles and rarely agrees to talk to journalists. He believes that an artist should meet the audience primarily on stage. To the surprise of many, she decided to talk about her observations about the young generation of singers in an interview with Plejada.
The artist admitted that she was concerned about the direction in which contemporary popular music is heading and the values that guide debuting musicians.

“It also saddens me that most people who embark on an artistic path talk about career, fame and money, and not about art, beauty and goodness. And these are the values that, in my opinion, should be the essence of an artist’s activity,” she said in an interview with Plejada.
Bitter words about young singers. “There is little individuality”
Geppert does not hide that her greatest concern is the way young singers create and present themselves today. In her opinion, they too often recreate existing patterns, instead of working on their own sound and distinctive style. She emphasized that many of them “sing just like their friends who were previously successful.”
The artist spoke about it bluntly:
“There are few real individuals among the girls,” she said, noting the lack of freshness and creative courage.
Badach, Szcześniak, Mruzu. Names that command her respect
Despite critical remarks towards young performers, Geppert emphasizes that there is no shortage of artists today who deserve recognition. She mentioned about Kuba Badach, Mieczysław Szcześniak and Frostpointing to them as examples of musical quality and professionalism.
“I mean, for example, Kuba Badach, Mietek Szcześniak and Mróz. I respect their activities very much, I like listening to them,” she emphasized.
Both Badach and Szcześniak have been among the most valued vocalists on the Polish scene for years. Both of them are distinguished by their perfect craftsmanship, and their work is often compared to the highest standards of soul and pop-jazz music.
Complicated relationship with the media. “I read interviews I didn’t give”
In the same interview, the artist recalled why she has been staying away from media events and celebrity circles for years. As she admitted, her words were often modified, which further strengthened her reluctance to give interviews.
“Many times, despite authorization, the editors changed my statements, and it also happened that I read interviews with myself that I did not give,” she said.
For Geppert, the stage remains the only place where she feels full control over the message. It is no coincidence that for years she has been working almost exclusively with her husband, Piotr Loretzwho is responsible for directing her recitals and artistic decisions.
Sadness surrounding “Search for Me”. The artist does not hide her regret
Recalling her greatest hits, Geppert also referred to the loud, refreshed version of the song “Szukaj się”, which was recorded by Anna Rusowicz and Sławek Uniatowski. The singer admitted that no one invited her to the project, and the changes in the lyrics caused her internal opposition.
“I feel sorry for them for changing the lyrics. It shouldn’t have happened. Besides, performing this song together seems completely unjustified to me,” she said. However, she added that both artists performed the song “nicely”, but wonders whether music is always “all about singing something nicely”.
Edyta Geppert – a legend who still sticks to her principles
Popularity and stage successes did not change her approach to work. Since winning in Opole in 1984, through “I have no regrets”, “Oh life, I love you more than life” and “Like a rose, like a thorn”, Geppert has remained faithful to her values. Perfectionism, attention to every detail and refusal to compromise are again reflected in her last statement.
