Although Los Angeles from Warsaw are almost 10,000 kilometers, emotions accompanying nominated creators, actors, producers and distributors, in both cases reach their zenith! It is no accident – Eagles awarded since 1999 are one of the most desirable and prestigious awards in the Polish film industry.
This year’s gala will lead Grażyna Torbicka. The eagle will receive for the achievements of life Allan Starski. We will know the winners in other categories tonight.
This year, as many as fifteen nominations for eagles were “White Courage” directed by Marcin Koszałka. “Girl with a needle” directed by Magnus von Horn, a production that was nominated for an Oscar in the “Best International Film” category is fighting for prizes in thirteen categories. “Kulej. Two sides of the medal” directed by Xawery Żuławski have a chance for nine statuettes.
The main acting awards are applied, among others, by: twice nominated for Eagles Sandra Drzymalska (“White Courage”, “Simona Kossak”), Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik (“Woman from …”), Michalina Olszańska (“Kulej. Two sides of the medal”, Vic Carmen Sonne (“Girl with needle”), Jacek Borusiński), Jacek Borusiński) (“Wróbel”), Maciej Damięcki (“Silence of the Night”), Marcin Dorociński (“Minghun”) and Filip Pławiak (“White Courage”).
The nomination for the American actor Kieran Culkin, for the reckless supporting role in the film “Real Pain” by Jesse Eisenberg, was also very echoed. Oscar’s culkin has already received. The leading audit company PwC is responsible for the secrecy of voting and the process of counting votes of nearly 1000 -person Polish Film Academy granting eagles – the same one that counts votes and looks after the secret of voting of the American Academy of Arts and Film knowledge granting Oscary!
Conducting voting and maintaining the results of voting secretly is a real undertaking! The process of counting votes takes place in the secret office of PwC. It is a room with NATO safety certificate: without windows, with a 50 cm thick door and an input encryption system and partners’ exits, without internet access. The time the partners spend in the office is saved in a special register. The place where the office is located remains the strict secret of the company.
Two PwC partners, Katarzyna Podgórna and Piotr Wyszogrodzki, who meet the highest audit standards, supported by international certificates, are responsible for the correctness of voting correctness. Envelopes with voting results, until their official opening on the stage, are stored in the safe office. PwC partners seal them personally. Starting from the first edition of the Eagles, a special, mechanical varnish is used to this day.
Until the envelopes open during the Eagle Gala, no one except PwC partners has access to them. The sealed envelopes are transmitted to the Academy’s verdict just before entering the stage, where in the light of cameras the label protecting the seal is broken. And only then, in the light of cameras and to the audience gathered in the theater, as well as viewers of the Eagle Gala, the name of the laureate or laureate is read.
The only winner of the Eagles who learns the verdict before the official gala is the winner of the award for the achievements of life. His name is announced earlier – at a solemn meeting of the nominees, which usually takes place a few days before the official presentation of the statuettes. The laureate of the Eagle for the achievements of life is therefore the only creator invited to the gala, who is not accompanied by uncertainty related to waiting for the verdict of the academy.
This year, the Polish Film Award will receive for the achievements of life Allan Starski. This is the first stage designer in the history of Eagles who wins the Eagle in this category! He accepted the news about the prize with modesty. Thanking the academy, he said that the eagle for achieving life “will not feel lonely, because he would join a large group of statuettes and will have” good company “. The Eagle Statuette, the Polish Film Award, weighs about 2 kg and is 37 cm high. It symbolizes the rising eagle and is made of precious materials – marble and brown. Each of the statuettes is created individually and is made by hand by an outstanding sculptor Adam Fedorowicz. In other words, there are no two identical statuettes – each is a unique sculpture! The whole process of creating a statuette lasts three months and is extremely labor -intensive.
And how did this story start? As the author of the statuette reveals – from plasticine! The prototype of the Eagle, which Adam Fedorowicz submitted in the competition for the Polish Film Award statuette, was made of plasticine. This, however, dissolved during transport. Remaining protruding wires and a shapeless mass. Fortunately, the project was reproduced on the night preceding the competition, which Adam Fedorowicz finally won. And so, for 27 years, every spring in the Fedorowicz studio is created a noble flock of film eagles!
Eagles, Polish film awards, are also a prestigious red carpet, with phenomenal creations, a galaxy of stars and film personality, joy, excitement, emotions – in a word: fashion and huge emotions!
It is worth knowing that behind the creations of stars participating in Gala 27. Eagles are the largest Polish fashion designers, as well as the most talented designers of the young generation, whom the Organizer of Eagles invites to cooperation every year. The gala is preceded by weeks of preparation and fittings, because the creations for the gala leaders and guests of special celebrations are often tailor -made – especially for the only one in the evening.
For ladies who will appear on the stage during the gala, more than one, but several dresses, including a few “reserve” are waiting. The decision in which they will eventually be made at the last minute!.
And although everything is always attached to the proverbial last button, unexpected situations can surprise the organizers anyway. One of the behind -the -scenes stories concerns the tuxedo flux of one of the filmmakers, which on the day of the gala “did not reach” on time to the theater. So the bow tie was borrowed from another filmmaker who spoke on stage just earlier! A shared addition to the outfit of both – gentlemen – the gentlemen, turned out to be a grateful topic of behind -the -scenes anecdotes, proving that the art of improvisation is an important part of the work of costume designers, not only on the film set!
Gala 27. Orłów will take place on March 10 at the Polish Theater in Warsaw. The event will show – live – Polish Television, which after eight years returns to the role of the official broadcaster and television partner of the Polish Film Awards.
