“Dune: Part Two” will tell about the covenant of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) with the Fremen living in the desert in order to overthrow the Harkonnen empire. The first part was released in cinemas in 2021 and received 10 Oscar nominations. Six of them later turned into statuettes. The film also received excellent reviews. It is therefore not surprising that expectations for its sequel are very high.
From the first reviews we can conclude that the creators have fulfilled the expectations placed in them, perhaps even more than that. The reviewer of the website “FilmSpark” calls the second “Dune” a magnum opus director and “the most important epic sci-fi production of this generation.”
The critic from “The Playlist” was not so delighted, but noted that the film had “visionary” moments. He also praised Austin Butler for his complete on-screen transformation. He also said that the film was too long, and the next day it slipped his mind.
However, journalist Germain Lussier had a different opinion. According to him, the film is “a fascinating and terrifying character study told on the gloriously grand scale of a science-fiction spectacle.” He also added that Chalamet and his partner Zendaya are great, the decorations are captivating, and on top of that, the supporting cast increases the already high level of the whole.
Steven Weintraub from “Collider” also did not hide his delight. According to him, the film could be even longer.
Uproxx’s Mike Ryan admitted that he wasn’t a fan of the first part, but the second one is “phenomenal” and “one of the best science fiction movies he’s ever seen.”
