Made by Denis Villeneuve both parts “Dunes” is a screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s famous novel. The second part debuted in cinemas in March of this year, a few months later it hit the streaming platform Max, where it is still very popular. And what about the third part?
“If I manage to make a trilogy, it will be my dream come true,” Denis Villeneuve said some time ago in an interview with Empire magazine.
The director also confirmed at the time that “Dune: Part Three” will be a screen adaptation of the novel “Dune Messiah” by Frank Herbert.
“The book ‘Dune Messiah’ was written in response to the fact that readers of ‘Dune’ perceived Paul Atreides as a hero. And that was not Herbert’s intention. My adaptation of ‘Dune’ is closer to his vision, which is really a warning. If it is made, the third part of ‘Dune’ will be my last film in the series. After the first two books, the following ones are too esoteric,” Villeneuve said.
Denis Villeneuve revealed during an interview at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival that Work is underway on the script for the third part of “Dune”. In addition, Legendary confirmed that it is working with the director on the shape of the “Dune Messiah” adaptation, reports Variety.
As Jeff Sneider, who specializes in behind-the-scenes information about Hollywood productions, reports in his newsletter, The third part of “Dune” is scheduled to debut in cinemas in 2027.
