“Dog and Robot”, nominated for an Oscar, is finally available on streaming platforms. Where to watch?

“Dog and Robot” directed by Pablo Berger immediately won the hearts of reviewers and viewers around the world. The title was nominated for an Oscar in the best animated feature film category. It was also presented in the official selection of last year's Cannes festival. In 2023, it received the European Film Award for the best European animated film, it also won the Octopus Film Festival Audience Award and the Young Horizons Festival Jury Award in the film discoveries competition.

“This is one of the most wonderful films you will see this year!” – The Wrap website raved. “A story about an extraordinary friendship that melts the hearts of adults and children,” wrote The Upcoming. “I am not surprised by all the awards and admiration for this film. Berger managed to use the language of animation to talk about universal human experience. In a touching, honest, sometimes brutally honest way, treating the audience very seriously, but above all – wise and responsible. Films such as “Dog and Robot” connect generations,” wrote Kuba Armata in a review for Interia.

Outside the window, colorful, full of life and laughter New York. Animals, just like people, live their own lives, fall in love, quarrel, find friends – all except Dog, who looks at the crazy city from his apartment with sadness and a hint of jealousy. He would also like to have a friend, but… he lacks courage. One day, he succumbs to the sweet promise of advertising and buys himself a friend – Robot. When Robot comes to life, he becomes Dog's best friend in the world. Roller skates, music, hot dogs, fooling around – these are their fun-filled days.

Everything changes on the last day of summer when they go to the beach. To save his buddy who was trying to make friends with water, Dog has to leave him alone for a while. How will this adventure end?

The inspiration for the film was a humorous graphic novel by Sara Varon. She is an American artist whose stories are inhabited by various animals that behave like people and coexist in New York, shown with nostalgia.
