Does fast charging damage the battery?

The function is a response from manufacturers to the short operating time of devices. We remember the times when a phone could work for several days without interruption. Today, due to powerful components, large screens and more, the battery runs out much faster. How to deal with this? Well, we may not have the new generation of batteries, but at least we can charge them quite quickly.

Typically, we can fill a smartphone battery in about an hour. Models that offer fast charging will handle this faster, because sometimes even 15 minutes of charging will allow us to use the device for several hours. There are also smartphones that offer very fast charging, which will charge the phone to full in just 5 minutes. It sounds great, but is it really safe?

it is nothing more than using faster energy transfer, thanks to which the cell in the phone (battery) will be filled in a shorter time. Of course, you need a suitable battery for this, i.e. one that is able to receive more energy in a shorter time.

It is also necessary that has high power. You probably know that some support 15W charging, others 80W and so on. The higher the number, the faster the charging. Finally, there is the charging technology itself. The processor controls the flow of energy and is responsible for the proper functioning of the charging process of our phone.

Since we are dealing with electricity and a battery, the question arises – and is it safe at all? Considering the latest charging standards, yes. Fast charging is safe because it does not put power beyond the technical condition of the device. This means that the aforementioned processor ensures that the phone or battery do not overheat. The full power of the charger is used only for a certain period of time, not from start to finish.

In this way, the right temperature is maintained, and our charger, battery or smartphone are not at risk of damage. Sure, when we have a problem – it may be due to a fault, not the fast charging technology itself.
