Denzel Washington and Michael J. Fox among Joe Biden’s honorees

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor awarded for outstanding contributions to a given area of ​​United States life or exceptional achievements. Film people have also received it in recent decades, including Gregory Peck, John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Frank Sinatra, James Stewart, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno, Meryl Streep, Barbra Streisand, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Robert De Niro and Tom Hanks.

The list of another 19 people who will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Joe Biden was announced on January 4, 2025. The distinction will be presented on the same day during a ceremony at the White House.

Fox was honored for his acting achievements as well as his work on behalf of people struggling with Parkinson’s disease. Stevens Jr., who is a director, screenwriter and producer, was recognized for his activities on behalf of American cinema, primarily founding the American Film Institute. On the other hand Washington was recognized for his outstanding roles and function as a spokesman for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America organization.

Among those honored on January 4 will also be singer Bono, basketball player Magic Johnson and footballer Lionel Messi.
