Dawid Tyszkowski “I am lucky” – is there a good time to open so much? (REVIEW)

Perverse “I’m lucky” It gives the illusory impression that it will be an album full of gratitude, a story about satisfaction and joy of life. However, these assumptions quickly are dispelled. Dawid Tyszkowski With his second album, he draws the listener into a world from which you can’t get out without symbolic wounds and feeling of stinging in the heart.

First position on the tracklis – “Simple emotions” – It is a kind of introduction to an intimate album, but thanks to this short song we are able to define what the rest of the album will be. The song sounds like a demo, which is created before the recording of the final version of the composition – as if the emotions prevailed over the artist, he would grab a guitar in his hand and began to sing, pouring out of himself, what lies on his heart. Simple and extremely effective.

Piece “Coastal trees” It’s five minutes saturated with many different sounds – there are some piano, some rhythmic strikes and a piercing voice of the singer, and finally a guitar solo. The music makes him want to sway into its rhythm, although in the meantime David sings how his world “turns into ruin”, so he doesn’t quite fall out. The song at the first interrogation moved me so much that I hailed it with a favorite from the whole album.

The album is not lacking in songs about feelings and difficulties in relationships with other people. IN “There is no such love” Dawid sings about how easy it is to open when you are in love and count on the whole story ending with a happy ending. However, there is certainty in the text that the proverbial storm will always come. Song “Someone” It starts with a strong blow and it seems that the melody is a bit happier than in the other positions. It’s just appearances again. In the words that David almost exclaims, this time you can hear less melancholy and more anger.

In the next song it’s not singing, but whispers play a key role. In “Everything whispers here” You can hear the voices of other people who add multidimensionality composition from the distance. At the first chorus, David almost whispered that he is “empty body and empty spirit” to shout at the second chorus in the sky, as if he wanted to free himself from the feeling of a tormenting him. Song “Shame” This is another item with character. The first verse, recorded for two voices – one slightly high -pitched and the other very deep – is a masterpiece for me. At first, we hear a delicate melody, based on the piano, in a moment to be hit with strong sounds and rhythmic rumbling. Dawid sings that it is drowning, and the music only emphasizes his panic and willingness to save himself. On the other hand “On the fingers” It reminded me of the artist’s older songs, still from the EP “I still don’t sleep”.

Before releasing the album, four singles appeared, which were announced by the publishing house. It is impossible not to notice that these are songs with less demanding lyrics and melody than the others. “Whales” This is a calm ballad with a slightly dance rhythm, with lighter themes. It is easier to assimilate, although the text is still an intense call for help. Down “I would like to create a house with you” You want to sway. The song has a romantic lyrics, although it does not lack fear, which is the theme of the album. In my opinion, this is the most affordable and easiest in reception from all items, although it is still far from a radio.

“Where are you?” This is the most rocky of all songs on the album. It begins with an interesting bit, and strong guitar riffs join it on the chorus. The tension is constantly growing, until the eloquent title question is asked in the chorus, which becomes the climax of the composition. In turn the song “Moth” He is kept in a truly film atmosphere, and with a lofty chorus, Dawid emphasizes that he cannot “help”.

Album “I’m lucky” The song with the same title closes in which David turns to his parents. He explains to them what life looks like from his perspective and emphasizes that although he mentions them in the song, it is not their story. At the first hearing of her, something in me twitched and tears appeared in my eyes. By far the most personal and moving from the whole album. It is a good summary of a collection of difficult songs, although it does not close the disc, but rather leaves the listener in a suspension state.

There is no composition on the album that would not move the story full of pain, fear, regret, and above all true history, which David certainly does not tell everyone. The listeners were treated as close as possible people who can confess their greatest fears and reveal that it is not good. The texts are not lacking in deep metaphors, which the artist tries to recreate his own emotions as best as possible. The words are depressing and leave a mark.

“I am lucky” is an album of the difficult ones that you can’t let go on Saturday morning in the background and start cleaning the house. It is a CD to sit down, delve into the texts contained on it and go with the melody. And it’s even better to cry for her. This is a disc that would certainly be taken in a gloomy autumn when the aura outside is conducive to reflections, although I do not know if there is a good time to open so much.
