“Constantine” is an action film that premiered in 2005 and – although it did not initially achieve the desired success – After many years, it gained recognition and today it is considered a cult film.
Rumors that the hit film from years ago would return in a new version appeared already in 2020. In the fall of 2022, the information was officially confirmed that the team of the 2005 production was soon to start preparations for the second part. He was supposed to return as Constantine Keanu ReevesFrancis Lawrence was to be behind the camera, as last time. Since this news was announced, there has been no new information about the production… until now!
Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, the producer of the film, in an interview with Comicbook, admitted that although the script is ready, he himself has not yet decided to read it. The reason is not fear for the quality of the text. The producer expressed a great desire for the sequel to meet the high expectations of both him and the fans.
“You know, I have it in my mailbox, I’m afraid to read it though. I want it to be good so badly. I’ll probably read it in a few days on a plane,” he said.
The latest reports suggest that Warner Bros. is still considering making Constantine 2, and the project could exist independently of the main DC universe. There is also the possibility that the film could tie into other dark productions, such as Swamp Thing. However, it is more commonly said that it will be a standalone project, similar to the Joker and Batman films.
The 2005 film “Constantine” is a screen adaptation of the popular DC comic book series “Hellblazer”. John Constantine, the titular character, is a rebellious British man who hunts demons and fights supernatural forces. In the comics, the appearance of the characters created by Alan Moore and his collaborators was inspired by the musician Sting, which gave the character an additional character.
