Movie “Constantine” from 2005 is a film adaptation of the popular series of DC comics “Hellblazer”. John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), the title hero is a rebellious British who deals with the hunting for demons and the fight against supernatural forces. In the comics, the appearance of the characters created by Alan Moore and his colleagues was inspired by the musician Sting, which added an additional character.
Although the film originally did not achieve the desired success – after many years it gained recognition and today it appears as cult.
Rumors that the film hit from years ago will return in the new installment appeared in 2020. Two years later, information was officially confirmed that the 2005 production team was to soon start with the preparations of the second part. Keanu Reeves was to return in the role of Constantine, behind the camera, as the previous time, Francis Lawrence was to stand. However, for some time the production got quiet again.
Keanu Reeves recently spoke about the continuation of the iconic film in an interview with Inverse.
“We’ve been trying to make this film for over a decade. We recently laid a story, we presented it DC Studios, and they said ‘OK’. So we will try to write the script,” the actor betrayed. “John Constantine will suffer even more,” he added.
A week earlier, Francis Lawrence said they were “closer to the sequel than ever”.
Interestingly, however, in September last year Lorenzo di Bonaventura, a film producer, in an interview with Comicbook, admitted that … the script is ready.
“You know, I have it on my box, but I’m afraid to read it. I want it to be good. I will probably read it in a few days on the plane” – he said.
