“Challengers” is an electrifying sports drama in which passion and rivalry intertwine on the tennis court. Zendayastar “Euphoria“, plays Tashi Duncan, an uncompromising trainer who decides to revive the career of her husband, Art (Mike Faist). Zendaya admitted that working with Luca Guadagnino was a form of breaking away from stereotypical roles of young girls who are just entering adulthood, and in an interview for Elle she said: “I felt like it was a good step towards a more, you could say, adult role and the next phase.” The adult nature of this role is not only about motherhood, but also the bold scenes in which the actress took part.
The title debuted in cinemas in April this year.
“For Guadagnino, the sports film genre is more of a backdrop for a youthful romance and a story about life choices and all their consequences. And the Italian is like no other (regardless of genre) who can tell this story. Just to mention the outstanding “Those Days, Those Nights” (2017) or the at least interesting “To the Last Bone” (2022)” – wrote Kuba Armata about “Challengers” in a review for Interia.
The film “Challengers” will be available with a Prime Video subscription from October 4.
