“The Nightmare of Last Summer” was published in 1997. It told the story of a group of young people who, returning from a party, run over a strange man. Fearing that he is dead, they decide to erase the evidence of their crime. However, the man does not die. Dressed in fishing gear and with a huge hook in his hand, he returns the following summer to take revenge.
The new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is set to hit theaters on July 18, 2025. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in talks to return to the series.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who directed the Netflix comedy “Revenge” and co-wrote “Thor: Love and Thunder,” will be behind the camera. Plot details are not yet known.
The confirmed cast of the reboot includes such stars as Sarah Pidgeon (“The Wild”, “Lazareth”), Jonah Hauer-King (“The Little Mermaid”, “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”), Tyriq Withers (“Me”, “Atlanta”) and Madelyn Cline (“Outer Banks”, “Glass Onion”).
Camila Mendes left the cast due to a tight schedule. The filming schedule for “I Know What You Did Last Summer” overlaps with another production in which Mendes is involved – “Masters Of The Universe”. The production refers to the adventures of the hero of the popular animation: He-Man.
The heroine, played by Camila Mendes, is the captain of the royal guard, and her primary goal is to protect the royal family, including Prince Adam himself, also known as He-Man. Teela’s task is also to train the young heir to the throne.
Nicholas Galitzine will play He-Man, and Travis Knight will be responsible for directing. The official plot description is not yet known, but it is possible that the motif known from the animated series and the earlier approach to live-action production will be used.
