Lars von Trier has its fans and opponents. I must admit that he can create an unconventional, suspenseful film. We know him as a director of “Melancholy”, both parts of “Nymphomaniac”, “Antichrist” or “House that Jack built.” In a recent interview Bryce Dallas Howard, a well -known actress and daughter Ron Howard, shared her experience of working on the plan of Lars von Trier. As it turns out – this event was not the most pleasant.
Bruce worked with Lars at the movie “Manderlay” in 2005. In an interview with The Times, she told about a series of confrontational moments on the set, which began almost immediately after arriving in Norway for photos. Von Trier, known for his extraordinary directing methods, apparently set himself the goal of bringing the actress to the border.
“He began to offend me: ‘Your father is a terrible filmmaker.” I said:’ Lars, what are you trying to do? ‘
Ron Howard is the director of the films “Apollo 13”, “Beautiful Mind”, “Rush” and “Man of Cinderella”. To date, Bruce is not able to say whether the director of “Melancholy” was serious. The tense situation escalated later and it led the fact that the actress threw a glass of water at a Danish filmmaker.
“It was my introduction to the world of Lars von Trier, but it wasn’t like I went to my room and cried or something like that,” she said. “I was delighted with that.”
