‘Batman Forever’: Nicole Kidman Reveals Why She Agreed to Role in Joel Schumacher’s Film

Nicole Kidman has a peculiar reason for deciding to star in Joel Schumacher’s 1995 film, “Batman Forever”. The actress mentions in an interview that Many people were surprised by her decision to take on the role of Dr. Chase Meridian, character created specifically for the film. Kidman admits that for many people her choice seemed incomprehensible, especially considering her previous, more ambitious roles.

In an interview with L’Officiel, Kidman explained that her motivation was simple and personal. “Everyone was like, ‘Why are you doing this?’ I was like, ‘ ‘Cause I get to kiss Batman!” – said the actress with humor. She also added that her decision was not dictated by financial considerations, but rather the desire to have fun and participate in a project that was different from her previous film experiences.

Kidman she had another opportunity to participate in a superhero production when she starred in “Aquaman” and its sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. However, when director James Wan approached her about the role, the actress was hoping it would be a horror film. Kidman, known for her penchant for darker themes, admitted that she would be happy to work with Wan on a horror film, given his experience directing series such as Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring.

Though Kidman has yet to star in a classic horror film, her fascination with the genre is clear. The actress reveals that she loves watching horror films and hopes her interest will lead her to darker roles, For now, she can be seen in the upcoming Netflix thriller, The Perfect Couple, where she plays Greer Garrison, a matriarch suspected of murder. The series is set to premiere on September 5.
