Like many actresses, Steinfeld took her first steps in acting by guest-starring in television productions, starting with the series “Back to You” in 2007. The breakthrough in her career was the role of Mattie Ross in the film “True Grit” by the Coen brothers. She was chosen from among 15,000 candidates, which turned out to be a hit – for her role, at the age of 14, she was nominated for an Oscar.
The production is a remake of the western “True Courage”. In the new version, Mattie Ross, together with the toughest sheriff in the United States (played by Jeff Bridges), hunts the man responsible for the death of her father.
Over the next few years, Stienfeld acted a lot – she appeared in “Ender’s Game”, “72 Hours”, “Escort”, “Pitch Perfect 2” (and also the third part). However, it became famous during the premiere of “The Bitter Seventeen” (2016), in which she played the role of Nadine, the main character of the production. A teenager must cope with the difficulties of life, school life and adulthood.
Two years later (2018), “Bumblebee”, a solo film about the adventures of one of the heroes of the “Transformers” series, was released. “On one of the Californian beaches, Bumblebee finds refuge in a scrapyard. Meanwhile, Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), a girl on the threshold of adulthood, trying to understand the world, still looking for her place and role in it. In said junkyard, he finds a dilapidated, rusting Bumblebee. When she manages to restore it, she quickly realizes that Bumblebee is not an ordinary yellow “hunchback” – we read in the film’s description.
In the same year, Hailee Steinfeld provided the voice of Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man: Universe” (later in the sequel: “Spider-Man: Through the Multiverse”). Her next major projects are series: the unforgettable “Dickinson” on AppleTV+, presenting the fate of Emily Dickinson in a crazy, satirical form, and “Hawkeye” – a Marvel series production focusing on the fate of Kate Bishop.
As we know, we also saw the heroine in “Marvels” and we will see her in subsequent installments of the cinematic series. Seinfeld admitted in interviews that she had signed a contract with Marvel for several productions. Next year, the animated series “Marvel Zombies” will debut, presenting an alternative reality in which the heroes and the entire world have become victims of a virus that turns the infected into the undead. Of course, there are also plans for a film about the adventures of the Young Avengers.
The action of the nine-episode “Arcane” takes place in the city of Piltover, located in the land of Runeterra. Sisters Vi and Jinx and their companions must face the challenges of the war that threatens the inhabitants of Piltover. Amid dangers, challenges, morally ambiguous choices and complicated relationships, we follow the fate of Vi (Hailee Steinfeld), Jinx (Ella Purnell) and Caitlyn (Katie Leung).. The last three episodes of the final series drop on Netflix on Saturday.
Hailee Steinfeld has also been building a music career for several years. So far, she has released several dozen singles and collaborated with, among others, with artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, MNEK, Zedd, Logic, DNCE.
