Anthony Hopkins revealed that his wife suspects he has autism. “It’s all bullshit”

The autobiography has just hit American bookstores Anthony Hopkinstitled “We Made It, Boy.” It will be released in Poland on November 12.

“This an honest, passionate story about a complex man who has been inspiring audiences with extraordinary performances for over sixty years,” reads the publisher’s description.

The two-time Oscar winner gave several interviews on this occasion. In an interview with the British weekly “The Sunday Times”, he admitted that his wife Stella Arroyave She noticed features that may indicate neurodevelopmental disorders and she suggested that he might be on the autism spectrum. He was quite dismissive about it.

“I am obsessed with numbers. I am obsessed with details and remembering them. I like everything to be organized. Stella did some research on this and said: ‘You must have Asperger’s syndrome.’ I had no idea what she was talking about“- admitted the actor.

“I think it’s nonsense. It’s all nonsense. ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, blah, blah, blah. (…) We are full of flaws, dirt and madness – it’s human nature. All these labels – who cares? But now it’s fashionable,” he declared.

His words caused a lot of controversy. Hopkins’ statement was criticized critically in an interview with “The Mirror” by Henry Shelford, CEO of ADHD UK.

“Those who have been helped by being different can easily forget how difficult it is for people who were not so lucky. A diagnosis of ADHD or autism is not a coat bought at a sale. Diagnosis often takes years, and such comments make life even more difficult for people who are already struggling with it,” said Shelford, his words quoted by PAP.
