Unusual umbrellas – do we need them?
People have been wondering for years how such a simple thing as an umbrella could be improved. They see it as more than just a way to avoid the rain – a challenge. And some people come up with all sorts of crazy ideas and implement them.
An example would be an umbrella attached to a backpack, which can be unfolded without having to take heavy bags off your back. Many people try to assemble such an invention, and some of them even succeed.
There are now all sorts of strange umbrellas, even miniature ones for shoes, so that women in high heels don’t get their tights wet. Most of them look funny and do not encourage regular use. One of the projects particularly stands out.
An unusual umbrella uses drones
John Tse, an engineer and filmmaker who runs a YouTube channel, looked into the future by creating an extraordinary umbrella that flies. His invention uses drone technology to provide rain protection to the head without having to hold anything, carry anything or even attach it to something, as was the case with an umbrella in a backpack.
In his video, Tse presented the entire behind-the-scenes journey of the production of this project, describing the stages of creating the innovative umbrella. Initially, it was supposed to have a handheld controller, but then it was impractical and limited in use, so the author added a tracking system to it that allows the device to follow the user, hovering just above his head. During design, Tse tested various solutions, from cameras, sensors to a remote operator.
The umbrella is not perfect, but it is certainly interesting and allows you to develop ideas about what the next umbrella will be like, which we probably don’t need at all, but we can have?
