Caroline Marie Henn, better known as Carrie Henn, was born on May 7, 1976 in Panama City, Florida, USA. Even as a little girl she dreamed of an acting career, However, her parents, especially her father, who was a non-commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, did not support these ambitions. Despite the lack of support from her loved ones, little Carrie did not give up on her dreams.
In the early 1980s, the Henn family moved to England when Carrie’s father was posted to work. It was there that Carrie, aged just eleven, she applied for a casting for a role in the film “Alien – the decisive battle”, the second part of the cult film “Alien”. Although she had no acting experience, James Cameron, the director of the film, saw great potential in her and decided to cast her in the role of Rebecca “Newt” Jorden. Newt, an orphaned girl who is taken under the care of Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver), quickly gained the sympathy of viewers around the world.
Carrie’s role in “The Alien” brought her not only popularity but also critical acclaim. Young actress she was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1987 and received the Saturn statuette the same year. Her talent and naturalness on screen promised a great film career.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans for Carrie. After the filming of “Alien 2” was completed, her father was transferred to an air base in California. This event thwarted the plans of the young actress, forcing her to give up participation in the premiere of the film and a possible further acting career. Instead of continuing her adventure with cinema, Carrie focused on her future education.
In 1994, she graduated from Atwater High School in California and then went on to California State University, Stanislaus, where she majored in librarianship. She graduated in 2000, with a record of success that was a testament to her determination and hard work.
She also found happiness in her private life. In 2005, she married Nathan Kutcher, a police officer, whom she met during her studies. The couple had a child, and Carrie focused on her family and work. Henn currently works as a teacher at Shaffer Elementary School in Atwater, enjoying a quiet life away from the spotlight.
Even though her film career ended with practically one role, Carrie Henn still keeps in touch with people from the film industry, including Sigourney Weaver, with which she made her debut. In 2020, after many years of hiatus, she made an exception and agreed to dub one of the characters in the animated miniseries “Thunder Island”. In 2016, she took part in a panel at Comic Con to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Cameron’s film.
In 2024, Carrie Henn celebrated her 48th birthday, boasting both professional achievements and a successful personal life. Although her acting career ended before it could really take off, Carrie found her place in the world, combining passion with dedication to her family and work as a teacher.
