Alain Delon’s Funeral. He Wanted to Be Buried “Like Everyone Else”

On Sunday, August 18, sad news spread around the world. Alain Delona legend of French cinema, known for the films “Samurai”, “Our Story”, “The Leopard”, “Mr. Klein” and “Death of a Corrupt Man” died at the age of 88. The actor stood out for his extraordinary beauty and it is no wonder that he was called “the most beautiful man in the world”. At the end of an exceptionally turbulent life, the star fought for dignity and death on his own terms.

Alain Delon “He died peacefully at his home in Douchy, surrounded by his three children and family,” his children, Anouchka, Alain Fabien and Anthony, said in a press release.

The Guardian reports the funeral details. The ceremony was meticulously planned. Alain Delon, in accordance with the wishes of his three children, will be buried on Saturday 24 August on the grounds of his country estate in Douchy, Loiret. A carefully selected group of 40 mourners were invited to the ceremony and instructed not to take photos. A ban on flights of planes and drones over the estate was also imposed. The actor himself did not want a national tribute. He wanted to be buried “like everyone else.”

Delon built a chapel on the property during his lifetime. After obtaining permission from the local prefect, the actor’s body will be laid to rest there. At his request, the mass will be led by a Catholic priest, Monsignor Jean-Michel Di Falco.
