“Ahsoka”: Rory McCann will replace Ray Stevenson in Disney+. Commented on the decision

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Rory McCann referred to his new role.

“I think this is the right decision to continue the thread of this character, instead of cutting it,” said McCann. “We did this in the case of other projects. I hope that fans will accept me in this role, I will give me the best of myself. I am just starting (…) It is all exciting. I remember how I was a kid and I watched the first part (” new hope ” – editor’s note) with my dad in the 70s or 80s”.

Ray Stevenson died unexpectedly on May 21, 2023. The day before, he was taken to the hospital from the film set “Cassino in Ischia”. He was 58 years old. He was popular in the films “Punisher: War Zone” and “Thor” and series “Rome” and “Dexter”.

Dave Filoni, the creator of the series, confessed during Star Wars Celebration that the realization of “Ahsoki” without Ray Stevenson was a challenge for some time.

“Continuing work was a challenge. However, I had great support in Jon (Favreau – editor’s note) and Rosario (Dawson – editor’s note). And I found the exit. I am grateful to Ray for all the conversations we conducted about Baylan. I knew what to do. It took me some time.

Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), former Padawanka Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen – is to appear in the series), who turned away from him and the Jedi Order, has a new mission to fulfill. Five years after the victory of the rebels, supporters of the Empire try to rebuild the former power and will not go back to anything to perform their task. And although the heroine doubles and Troi, at some point she understands that he will do nothing herself. And this in turn means that he must ask for help from old allies, with whom she did not necessarily part in friendly relations.
