In his latest film, Wojciech Smarzowski looks into “good homes”. Things are happening there that most people prefer to remain silent about. When Gośka (Agata Turkot) meets Grzesiek (Tomasz Schuchardt) on the Internet, she is convinced that he is finally The One. Grzesiek goes crazy about her, showers her with flowers and proposes in Venice. It must be love, right? But cracks quickly begin to appear in this perfect picture. Soon, their shared home becomes the most dangerous place for Gośka.
“Good Home” is inspired by stories that really happened. “What you saw was stolen, heard, read, listened to,” Smarzowski emphasized during the meeting after the film’s screening at the Kamera Akcja Festival in Łódź.
Agata Turkot graduated from the Acting Department of the State Higher School of Film, Television and Theater in Łódź. She gained her first experience in television series, including: in “Leśniczówka”. The breakthrough in her career was the role of Lea in the film “Wesele” (2021) directed by Wojciech Smarzowski. In “Dom Dobre” (2025) he plays the main character.
In an interview for Onet, the actress talked about working on the set of Smarzowski’s new film. As she emphasized, she did not rely only on her own experiences, but on deep empathy with her heroine.
“I had great support in the form of Ania and Wojtek, but of course I had to sacrifice something. I switched between my own consciousness and the consciousness of the characters through strong empathizing, powerful compassion, and not generating emotions based on my own experience. I allowed myself to let the feelings flow through me, remembering that it was Gośka, not Agata. It changed my thinking on how to practice this profession,” she admitted.
At the same time, Turkot does not hide that the intense creation had its price. The exhaustion that came with working on the role became a painful but important experience for her.
“The price I paid for the role was fatigue, a level I had never experienced before. Once you are mentally and physically exhausted, you don’t have much to offer the world anymore, do you?” – she confessed.
In the same conversation, she admitted that she understood that acting shouldn’t be at the expense of yourself.
“It was a big lesson for me that you don’t have to sacrifice yourself to play,” concluded Agata Turkot.
The film “Good House” will be released in cinemas on November 7, 2025.
