After 15 years, they return to Woodstock 2024. Jurek Owsiak confirms the new stars of the Pol’and’Rock Festival

After 15 years, the Swedish group returns to Pol’and’Rock Clawfinger (check!), which has played at the festival twice so far, still under its name Woodstock stop – in 2008 and 2009, the second time as winners of the Golden Spinning Top, an award given by Woodstock enthusiasts.

The band, active since 1989, was one of the pioneers of the crossover trend, which consisted of chanted vocals, sharp, cutting guitar sounds and industrial keyboard sounds.

Rap-metal Clawfinger achieved its greatest triumphs in the first half of the 1990s, especially thanks to the debut album “Deaf Dumb Blind” (1993). At that time, almost the entire world of harder music heard about the band. The album included the hit singles “Nigger” (with anti-racist lyrics), “The Truth”, “Rosegrove” and “Warfair”.

The second album “Use Your Brain” (1995) was a similar success to the debut, with the hits “Pin Me Down”, “Do What I Say” and “Tomorrow”.

The most important recordings from the first three albums were later included on the “Biggest & The Best” compilation. Clawfinger’s last album is “Life Will Kill You” from 2007.

In mid-2013, the Swedes announced the discontinuation of their activities. The musicians – emphasizing that they do not currently treat Clawfinger as their main work – after a few years of break, they released the premiere songs “Save Our Souls” (2017), criticizing the then president of the USA Donald Trump, and “Tear You Down” (2019). They sporadically appeared for occasional performances at various festivals, and now they have announced their return to Poland.

The leaders of the formation are the vocalist ZakTell and keyboardist Jocke Skog, who worked together in a hospital in Stockholm. From the beginning, there was also a guitarist in the band Bard Torstensen. In 1992, a bassist joined them André Skaugand the drummer has the shortest tenure (since 2008). Micke Dahlén.

Americans from… will also perform on the Big Stage in Czaplinek Sick Of It All. The quartet, active since 1986, is considered one of the legends of the New York hard core scene. “Their music is more than just sound – it is a manifestation of feelings and thoughts that vibrate in the hearts of their fans,” the organizers emphasize.

In 2023 for the second time in a row Pol’and’Rock Festival took place in Czaplinek (Broczyno airport) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in Drawsko County, between the Drawsko and Czaplino lakes. According to declarations from a year ago, this is where the 30th anniversary edition will be organized.

Then Jurek Owsiak and his team invited participants next year – the festival will take place on August 1-3. Many participants hope that the anniversary will be grand. According to estimates, last year’s edition attracted several hundred thousand fans.

Last year, Czaplinek featured, among others: American bands Biohazard and Spin DoctorsFrench manufacturer Carpenter Brut, Napalm Death (legend of the grindcore scene from Great Britain), British bands Apollo 440 and While She Sleepsa Welsh band Bullet For My Valentinea band from Switzerland Saint City OrchestraFrench Rise of the Northstar, The Scratch (hailed as one of the boldest Irish debuts in recent years), Steve ‘n’ SeagullsAustralians from The RumjacksUkrainian group Luik and Epica – Dutch star of symphonic metal.

They were Polish stars Beard, Krzysztof Zalewski, Marek Dyjak and groups LemON, Proletariat, Lady Pank, Golden Life, Hairy, Transgression and winners of the Golden Spinning Top: Apple Blossom and Pull The Wire. The festival ended traditionally Piotr Bukartyk together with the workshop participants with the piece “From So Many Clouds”.

In 2021, the festival was organized at the former Makowice-Płoty airport (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). In accordance with the restrictions at that time, 20,000 people had fun. people.
