Adam Sandler received a Lifetime Achievement Award at AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards on Saturday. The undisputed king of comedy thanked for this distinction in his own style.
“Many people told me, ‘Sandman, the AARP award means you’re old.’ In my opinion, it’s not because of the award. I have 10 other reasons why you know I’m old,” Sandler joked after receiving the statuette.
For comic relief, the actor listed several reasons why he thinks he’s old. “The font on my phone is so large that my text messages can be read by anyone in the window seat on a Delta plane,” he joked.
The actor also thanked his wife for always being there for him, even though he definitely doesn’t look like he used to.
“I don’t know how much time I have left: 60, 70 years. Maximum 80, maybe 90, if I start exercising and taking creatine. I promise everyone here that I will make at least 50 films before I die and at least 25 of them will be good,” he said at the end, which again made the audience laugh.
