On Monday (June 3), Will Smith revealed that he and Martin Lawrence had a special exchange on their first day on set that influenced everything that happened later.
“We are the producers and stars (of this movie), and that's an extra burden, right? So, you know, the first day we were running around and… Martin suddenly just stopped“- Smith began in a conversation with Carmelo Anthony.
Lawrence also told him to stop for a moment. When the actor asked him what was going on, he simply looked at him and replied: “I love you brother“.
Smith approached these words somewhat ironically, but Lawrence repeated them again. Immediately afterward, he approached his friend, hugged him and said: “We're going to have a lot of fun making this movie.”. This calmed them both down in the chaos of production and put them in a good mood for the rest of their work.
The actors confirmed that are working on the fourth part of the “Bad Boys” film series, adding a video on Instagram in January 2023. Previously, there were many rumors that the project would not be able to be made due to the controversy at the 2022 Oscars; Will Smith slapped host Chris Rock in front of everyone.
Smith and Lawrence will once again play Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Bennett. The first part of their adventures premiered in 1995. In the fourth part of the series, they will be accompanied on screen by, among others: Alexander Ludwig (“Vikings”), Vanessa Hudgens (“Spring Breakers”), Eric Dane (“Grey's Anatomy”) i Paola Nuñez (“Purification Night”).
“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” will hit Polish cinemas on June 7.
