Liroy’s heritage and achievements – from a pioneer to the icon of Polish hip -hop
Piotr Liroy-Marzec, known more widely as Liroy, is one of the pioneers of Polish hip-hop. He began his career in the early 90s, and his debut album “orom” from 1995 quickly gained the cult status, bringing Liroy to broad recognition and popularity. Thanks to such songs as “Pencisory”, the artist permanently entered the story of native rap music. His work was distinguished by energy, honesty and skilful combining American inspirations with Polish realities. After the success of his debut, Liroy released several more albums, such as “Bestseller” (1999). After a period of intensive musical activity, Liroy also turned to politics and business, which limited his artistic activity. However, even after years of silence, it still has a constant impact on the Polish rap scene.
