Team The cars In the 70s and 80s he was recognized as one of the most innovative groups on the American pop-rock scene. The musicians created unique compositions, combining strong rock with elements of New Wave and popular music. With their work they quickly attracted the attention of the audience. The debut album from 1978 already brought hits such as “Just what and Needed” Whether “My Best Friend’s Girl”.
The band’s main singer was Ric Ocasekalthough some of the group’s greatest hits sang Ben orr – Co -founder, vocalist, but above all the bass player of the formation. The musicians met when ORR was still learning to play instruments, appearing in local bands. When creating The Cars, they invited to cooperate Elliot Easton, David Robinson and Greg Hawkes.
The song turned out to be a breakthrough in the career of the formation “Drive”in which Ben ORR showed vocally. The song was released in 1984 and stood out from the other compositions of the band – mainly thanks to the melancholy and depth present in it. The ballad quickly became a global hit, reaching the top of the charts (in the prestigious listing of Billboard Hot 100 took third place).

The team was very successful on the international market, but in 1987 the first problems began to appear. There were conflicts between the musicians – they were mainly fame and money. A year later there was a final split, and the formation officially ended its activity.
For years, the listeners speculated about the resumption of The Cars’s activities, but any chances were crossed out by the death of ORR in 2000. Bassist at the age of only 53 years of age died of pancreatic cancer.
In 2005, however, two former members of the group decided to resume their career. They did not want to cheat fans and benefit from The Cars fame, which reactivated the group under the new name – The New Cars. Ocasek did not join the project, which was simply not convinced of the whole idea, as well as Robinson, who stopped dealing with music. The New Cars released one album and broke up in 2007.
In 2010, another team reactivated. A year later, the musicians released their last studio album and even set off on a tour.
After the departure of the singer, the musicians from The Cars did not decide to continue their business. Now they are coming back with a new album!
In 2019, the vocalist and leader of The Cars, Rica Ocska, took place. The star had undergone a major surgery and then died as a result of complications. Since then, the other team members have not decided to continue their business … Until now!
According to “Ultimate Classic Rock” a few years after the death of a friend, the musicians from The Cars decided to return to work on the album, which they began to create together with Ocask. The singer did not manage to finish all the songs, so now his teammates reached for the songs, wanting to give them a new life. The upcoming material is to include composition “I just can’t say”which the leader of The Cars wrote before the creation of the formation. The album is supposed to appear also “They by them” – The last piece on which Ocask worked on before leaving.
Fans of pop-rock legend are extremely interested in the upcoming project and are impatient because the discography of The Cars closes the album “Move like this” From 2011, 14 years are waiting for new products! The musicians, however, have not yet disclosed at what stage of work they are. We also do not know the release date of the album. To know the details, the listeners will have to be patient.
