Throughout the MCU’s history, fans have come to expect a few memorable post-credit scenes. Some have been memorable, while others have disappointed.

While these scenes often teased new characters and future movies in the MCU, some of them failed to impress.

10/10 Avengers: Endgame’s Quick Callback Disappointed Fans Hoping For A Tease :

There’s only one movie in the MCU that didn’t have a post-credit scene of some kind, and that was 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which brought an end to the long-running Infinity Saga that dominated the first three phases.

Fans were hoping to see a tease of what came next in the MCU. Given the climax of the main storyline. Yet post-credits, it was an auditory callback to Iron Man as the sound of a hammer working on metal during Tony Stark’s construction of his armor closed out Endgame.

9/10 A Scene From Captain America: Civil War Played After The Credits Of Ant-Man :

Ant-Man, released in 2015. It introduces a new solo hero with ties to the MCU’s past. laying the groundwork for the character to play a significant role in the Infinity Saga. Scott Lang’s acquisition of the Ant-Man title and size-altering abilities established him as the newest member of the Avengers. As hinted in the post-credit scene.

Unfortunately, unlike other post-credit scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-stinger Man’s previewed Lang’s role in Captain America: Civil War by playing a real scene from the film.

8/10 Star-Lord Arguing With Teen Groot From Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2 :

In 2017’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2, there were five post-credit sequences. Each sequence foreshadowed more amusing developments for the characters in Guardians Of The Galaxy and even included a Stan Lee appearance to explain his many other MCU roles.

However, not all of the post-credit scenes, which teased future events or introduced new characters, lived up to the rest. In a humorous sequence that places Peter Quill in a parenting role, Star-Lord is attempting to deal with the now-grown Teen Groot. It got a few laughs, but it didn’t do much more than teasing the conclusion of Baby Groot.

7/10 Black Panther Vowed To Share Wakanda’s Resources With The United Nations :

There have been a few MCU films with multiple post-credit scenes, including 2016’s Black Panther. Winter Soldier awoke from his cryogenic slumber in Wakanda to find peace in his new duty as the White Wolf in the last post-credit scene. It was a satisfying scene that teased the character’s return and piqued fans’ interest in the upcoming film.

Unfortunately, T’Challa and the crew were featured in the mid-credit scene. Revealing to the United Nations that Wakanda would expose itself and its resources to the world. It was a significant sequence in connection to the events of Black Panther, but unlike the final stinger, it didn’t leave viewers wanting more.

6/10 Loki’s Mind-Controlled Puppet Erik Selvig Shown The Tesseract By Nick Fury :

The character of Loki was initially introduced in 2011’s Thor, laying the groundwork for the villain’s lengthy and successful journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a result, he became a hero and the star of his television show. Loki, on the other hand, fell off the Rainbow Bridge and was swallowed up by a closing rift in space in the Thor conclusion.

The post-credit teaser took no time in confirming that Loki was still alive and well. Astrophysicist Erik Selvig guided to the secret Tesseract by Nick Fury, who was manipulated by Loki like a puppet. The moment took away some of the tension from his conclusion, as well as the surprise of Loki’s impending return, which could have been built up for The Avengers.

5/10 Thanos Stole An Empty Gauntlet In Avengers: Age Of Ultron’s Confusing Stinger :

The Avengers, released in 2012, had one of the best post-credit scenes in the MCU, teasing Thanos’ looming danger for the first time. Although, His cameo in 2015’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron was a bit of a letdown that didn’t make sense.

Thanos quickly claims a golden gauntlet from an undisclosed vault or chamber, teasing the construction of the Infinity Gauntlet. However, in Avengers: Infinity War, the gauntlet manufactured by Eitri for Thanos is revealed. Which appears to contradict the earlier post-credit scene.

4/10 Bruce Banner Fell Asleep While Listening To Tony Stark’s Story In Iron Man 3 :

Shane Black took over the franchise for Iron Man 3 in 2013, which featured Tony Stark’s monologue setting up the plot. After the credits, the narrative returned, revealing that Tony Stark had been telling Dr. Bruce Banner, a fellow Avenger, and scientist, the story of his battle with Aldrich Killian/The Mandarin.

Unfortunately, Banner fell asleep during Stark’s narration of the events and missed the entire story. Which didn’t exactly pique fans’ interest or tease any future MCU developments. It was a disheartening finish to the franchise’s sequence of stingers. Given that Iron Man started the MCU’s predilection for post-credit scenes.

2/10 Thor And Jane Foster Share A Kiss After The Events Of Thor: The Dark World :

Thor: The Dark World, released in 2013, was another MCU film with an excessive number of post-credit scenes. With the first segment introducing the concept of Infinity Stones and teasing the first Guardians of The Galaxy film. The second trailer didn’t have as much MCU hype as the first, instead of focusing on Thor and Jane Foster’s growing love.

Jane Foster was left with her squad to wait for Thor’s return when he returned to Asgard following his battle with Malekith during the Convergence. Jane wasn’t seen in the MCU again until Thor: Love And Thunder years later when he appears on the rooftop and the two share a passionate kiss.

1/10 Captain America Gave A Lesson On Patience In Spider-Man: Homecoming :

In 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Captain America made a brief appearance. Captain America was the star of a video series of public service messages in which the star-spangled superhero taught valuable life lessons to detained children, including Peter Parker.

Fans waited until the very end of Spider-Man: Homecoming for more after the surprise mid-credit scene in which Aunt May discovered Spider-hidden Man’s identity. In a tongue-in-cheek nod to MCU fans who have come to anticipate so much from the post-credit teases, Captain America’s PSA series returned with a lesson on patience.
