Few Things About The Dark Knight Trilogy That Have Aged Poorly

Nobody can disagree that Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the most influential comic book films ever filmed.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are legendary masterpieces, while The Dark Knight Rises has a devoted following that rivals the previous two.

Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy will be remembered as one of the most famous trilogies of all time. The films were superhero masterclasses with enormous action scenes and sophisticated characters, but they were also cinematic classics.

Nothing, however, is impervious to the ravages of time, and The Dark Knight trilogy is no exception. There are problems in all three films that fans may not have recognized or chosen to overlook. That demonstrates the legacy of this excellent trilogy when even the fans are ready to forgive the flaws.

Many believe the picture to be the finest comic book film of all time, yet like any film, certain parts haven’t aged as well as they should have.

Here are a few examples of how The Dark Knight has aged horribly.

1. The Pacing Of The Dark Knight Rises

The concluding installment of The Dark Knight trilogy suffers from an erratic pace. Some events take much too long to complete, while others pass by so rapidly that they become disorienting. For example, when Bane takes over Gotham City, months seem to give, but the editing makes it appear that only days had gone by.

The first part of the film spends so much time reintroducing Bruce Wayne to society that it becomes tedious rapidly. Bruce Wayne doesn’t even put on the Batman outfit until halfway through the film. When Bruce Wayne exits the hole, the film cuts to being inside Gotham City rather than portraying how he penetrated a city under lockdown.

2. The Ending Of The Dark Knight

It seems that most comic book movies these days tie things up while teasing what’s to come. Aside from killing off Two-Face when Aaron Eckhart hardly got a chance to shine, the finale in which Batman needs to flee seems a little contrived. Batman claims it is to take Harvey Dent’s place to undone none of his work.

When there are alternative possibilities, though, Batman goes with the first notion that comes to mind. While there was a sequel to The Dark Knight, the finale of this picture seemed like it might be the end of the saga.

They may have claimed that the Joker compelled Harvey Dent to conduct the atrocities or that Dent died while rescuing Gordon’s family. In the end, Batman assuming the responsibility seems like an easy way for Batman to have a cause to retire.

3. CGI Fight Scenes

Nolan is a fantastic filmmaker, particularly when it comes to classic action moments. This is highlighted by the opening sequences of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, which include high-speed car chases and frantic heists. However, Nolan fell a little short when it came to the battle sequences.

The aftereffects of these films were rife with complaints about the excessive camera shaking in the action scenes and several less-than-exciting passages shot with a still camera. The bulky Batman suit may be a significant issue. Batman barges and lurches in his battles, not looking like the trained ninja we know and love.

4. Batman Voice

Christian Bale’s Batman voice has become notorious at this stage. In the opinion of many fans, Christian Bale is the most refined cinematic Batman we’ve seen thus far. His performance is dark, dense, and intricate. He effectively sells the concept that Batman is Bruce Wayne’s genuine personality, and the wealthy playboy is his authentic masquerade. But there is one conspicuous feature of his performance that is difficult to ignore.

5. The Death Of Batman’s Parents

Just as Uncle Ben must always die for Peter Parker to become Spider-Man, Bruce Wayne must permanently lose his parents in a tragic alleyway shooting to become Batman — a scenario that fans are all too acquainted with. Sadly for Nolan, the moment will never have the same emotional effect as in past renditions.

6. The Joker Pretending To Be A Nurse

The unexpected nature of the Joker persona in The Dark Knight contributes to his genius. It should still be really frightening when the Joker disguises himself as a nurse before blowing up the hospital. Watching the Joker in nurse drag as the hospital explodes behind him has gotten less impactful and rather amusing over the years.

The Joker is designed to be unexpected and erratic, which is why he is such a terrifying monster. The hospital bursting and the unveiling of Harvey Dent’s half-disfigured visage are both fantastic moments in this sequence, however the Joker’s masquerade as a nurse comes out as more comical than serious.

8. Bruce Wayne’s Prison Recovery

In The Dark Knight Rises, Batman’s first meeting with Bane resulted in Bane shattering Batman’s back and leaving him with terrible injuries for months. As a consequence, Bruce Wayne’s recuperation became rather improbable.

While it was a spectacular scene when Batman climbed out of the Pit with all the inmates cheering him on and the fantastic music booming in the background, it’s unclear how Bruce healed from his back injury so fast and returned to battle Bane after just a few push-ups.
