Ghostbusters: Afterlife Release Date, Cast and More

The popular release Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled for November 19, 2021 (USA) after its unannounced screening on August 23, 2021 during the ComicCon event in Las Vegas. The film is a sequel to its previous features Ghostbusters (1984)  and Ghostbusters (1989). The movie was initially set for 10th July but got delayed due to the spread of the virus. Finally, the wait is not much longer and only a week is left. The 2 hour film is directed by Jason Reitman, son of the original Ghostbuster director Ivan Reitman. He also co-wrote it with the help of Gil Kenan. The sequel is produced by Ivan Reitman and a number of significant production houses.

  • Mckenna Grace as Phoebe: Callie’s daughter,
  • Finn Wolfhard as Trevor: Callie’s son,
  • Carrie Coon as Callie,
  • Paul Rudd as Chad Grooberson.

The original cast is also reverting back with huge names like

  • Bill Murray portraying Dr. Peter Venkman,
  • Dan Aykroyd portraying Dr. Raymond “Ray” Stantz,
  • Ernie Hudson portraying Dr. Winston Zeddemore,
  • Sigourney Weaver portraying Dana Barrett,
  • Annie Potts portraying Janine Melnitz

and a number of supporting cast members like Celeste O’Connor as Lucky: Trevor’s potential love interest and Logan Kim as Podcast: Phoebe’s classmate.

Plot of the Sequel

The story of the film revolves around a single mother and her son who arrive at Oklahama after they’re forced to move in a farmhouse which was left for them by the son’s grandfather. After a series of strange occurrences, the children find out the past of their grandfather. They take up the old equipment of the Original Ghostbusters and carry on with their legacies.

The horror comedy is set for a theatre release after a year long wait on November 19, 2021. The earlier release was held up due to the increasing COVID-19 cases due to the heavy crowd faced in theatre halls. After a number of changes in the release date, Sony Pictures announced it for November 11th, 2021 but it was further delayed and decided on a final date i.e. November 19, 2021.

Sony Pictures is consistent on its theatre releases so the movie might not be available on any of the online websites. The tickets are on sale currently.
