Youth in the Korean cinema is a fairly common topic. The K-Youth section during this year’s Asian Film Festival Five flavors will allow you to look at the stories of maturing that have been created over the decades.
The program included production from the 80s – “Chils and Mans” – which is accompanied by the topics of difficulty expressing yourself in the face of the national situation. There will also be closer modern history, discovering the pressure of success, inequalities, which must be faced by young people or the global popularity of the k-pop world (“Time to embrace”). As part of five flavors, you will also be able to get acquainted with the iconic image “My Sassy Girl”with whom many Koreans identified.
The K-Youth section is proof that South Korea’s ideas may differ significantly from reality. Contrary to appearances, created by the world-widespread Korean fashion trends, food or hoping K-pop, young songs presented in films dream of freedom and with difficulty confront with what finds them in adult life. Although today there is a fashion for Korea everywhere, thanks to productions we have the opportunity to look at what is hidden under the colorful surface of illusions.

19. Asian Film Festival Five Flavors is organized on November 12-19 in Warsaw (Muranów Cinema, Kinoteka, Kinomuzeum, Amondo). Movies will also be available online (November 12-30). The sale of passes will start on September 9 at 12:00.
