Tofifest 2024: Huge turnout at the grand opening gala

Entering the hall in CKK Jordanki, where the grand opening took place, the audience was greeted by blood-red lights and the extraordinary music by Wojciech Kilar, composed for the film “Dracula” Francis Ford Coppola.

There was no shortage of references to immortals that evening; after all, that was “Eternal love” became the main theme of the festival. The presenters welcomed the audience with – as they themselves emphasized – “vampire pleasure” and started talking about what awaits viewers during this year’s edition.

Referring to the football games, which also returned several times that evening, it was admitted that the participants will have 6 days filled with film goals. The repertoire of the 22nd edition of the Tofifest. Kujawy and Pomerania IFF consists of over 100 films, distributed in the program in 17 bands and displayed in six different locations.

During the opening of the festival, two exceptional artists were awarded – Magdalena Różczka and Ewa Wiśniewska.

Różczka received the Pola Negri Award of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship; is the third winner of this award. While on stage, the woman confessed that acting is only “a springboard for her to be able to speak out loud about the thingimportant ones”. For this reason, she appealed to the audience to take an interest in the topic of foster families and the activities of the foundation she runs – “Beloved”.

The winner of the second award given that evening was Ewa Wiśniewska, an outstanding Polish artist, known for many key productions for Polish cinematography. She played in, among others: “What will you do to me when you catch me” (1978) by Stanisław Bareja, “Escape from the ‘Freedom’ cinema” (1990) by Wojciech Marczewski, “Deserters’ gold” (1998) by Janusz Majewski or in “Fire and sword” (1999) by Jerzy Hoffman. The actress received the Golden Angel for Lady of Polish Cinema. When she entered the stage, she received long and loud applause, which moved her deeply. She admitted that it was proof for her that “it still exists” and now she will be able to call herself a real lady.

The closing ceremony was graced by project concert “Soul Movie” Olga Szomańska and her special guests: Tomasz Torres, Tomasz Tomson Lach and Paweł Mielewczyk. Together they performed many well-known and popular songs from film productions; the repertoire included, among others: “Love Song For a Vampire” With “Dracula” Coppola, “Stand Up” With “Harriet” Lemmons or “Melusine” With “Mr. Kleks’s Journey”.
